The thing you searched for
It's not a loan. It's your Case Equity.
The industry says lawsuit loan, settlement loan, pre-settlement funding. Different names, same search. Here is the part the names hide: your case already has value, and you can access it without borrowing anything. If you don't win, you owe nothing back.
The difference
A loan versus this.
What happens if you lose
A loan
A loan survives your case. Lose, and it still wants its money back, from you.
Case Equity
Case Equity is non-recourse. If you don't win, you owe nothing back. Not the draw, not the interest, nothing.
What happens every month
A loan
A loan bills you monthly, while you are already waiting on rent, groceries, and medical bills.
Case Equity
No monthly payments. Nothing is due until your case settles or wins. The waiting is the point.
What happens to the balance
A loan
Typical funders compound monthly at 3% to 8%. The balance can pass 2x your money inside two years and keep going.
Case Equity
One set rate: 27.8% simple, no compounding. The balance stops at a hard cap of 2x your draw. At 46 months it cannot grow anymore, ever.
Who sets the terms
A loan
Each funder writes its own contract, and most will not print their rate anywhere you can find it.
Case Equity
ClaimAngel sets one rate and one set of terms, and all 25+ vetted funders on the platform fund at them. The price is public. It is on this page.
The price
See what a draw actually costs.
No funder in this industry publishes a price. Ours is right here, and it is the same from every funder on the platform.
Compare against typical funder rates →No compounding. No monthly payments while your case is active. And if you don’t win, you owe nothing back.
Straight answers
What people ask when they search this.
Is a lawsuit loan the same as pre-settlement funding?
The industry uses both names for the same idea: money now, repaid from your settlement later. But most of these products are not loans at all. Case Equity through ClaimAngel is non-recourse: repayment comes only from the case outcome, and if you do not win, you owe nothing back. A real loan would follow you regardless.
Do I have to repay if I lose my case?
No. Case Equity is non-recourse. If you do not win, you owe nothing back.
What does it cost?
One set rate: 27.8% simple annual interest, billed by the quarter, with a hard cap at 2x your draw plus financed fees. A $1,000 draw can never cost more than $2,130.47 to repay. A $5,000 draw caps at $10,452. Every funder on the platform funds at the same terms.
Are lawsuit loans legal in my state?
Regulation is state by state: licensing in some states, rate caps in others, and North Carolina banned outcome-contingent litigation funding in June 2026. We keep the current law for all 50 states, dated and sourced, at claimangel.com/state-laws.
Does my lawyer have to be involved?
Yes, and that protects you. Your attorney confirms case details and repayment happens at settlement through the normal disbursement process. ClaimAngel funders never direct or influence your case.
